The end of R22 Refrigerant: What does this mean for your older air conditioning unit? R22 refrigerant, sometimes known as R22 Freon is an environmental danger because it contributes to the depletion of the ozone layer. The U.S. government has placed restrictions on R22 that it must be eliminated from use in new cooling systems by the year 2020. R22 is no longer being manufactured and is in limited supply. R22 is being replaced by R-410A, a safer material which is the current, compliant standard refrigerant in air conditioning equipment.

Recently across the country electricity rates have skyrocketed. Older HVAC systems are inefficient and monthly costs to heat and cool your home or business can quickly climb out of control. These systems are smaller than traditional forced air systems and they deliver the warm or cooled air directly into a room, with no loss.

2. Indoor air quality improvement

With traditional AC systems, many years of dust and pollen can collect within the ductwork and air filters. Air filters can be changed annually and the ductwork can be professionally cleaned every few years, but if not maintained, the air quality in your home can be worse than outdoor air. These heat pump systems offer multi-stage filtration that can help reduce the pollen, dust, and other particulates in the air the cause allergies. These units have a filter that can be washed annually.

3. Flexible Installation and Lower Labor Costs

With traditional central AC systems, walls and ceilings have to be opened up or framed to fit trunks of ductwork that go to all rooms that need to be cooled. With a ductless system, a small 3 inch hole needs to be cut in a wall for the line set to be piped through from the indoor evaporator to the condenser unit outside.

These systems are often referred to as split systems, and allow multiple heads (evaporators) to heat and cool different rooms with one outdoor condenser that can be mounted on a wall or the ground and be hidden by landscaping.

Water Problems

24 Hour Drain Snaking

Having issues where your drains are backing up? Are your toilet and shower are overflowing? We offer 24 hour drain snaking for all of your clogged drain problems. If you are unsure if your drains are clogged, some things to look for include:

We have a small jetter machine that helps us clear small drains like a kitchen sink that may be clogged with grease.

We recently acquired a self leveling drain camera for better diagnostics. Many of the underground drain pipes are original to your home and possibly still made of clay. Over the years clay pipes can crack, become dislodged as the ground settles or have root damage from trees as they grow. Our camera allows us to see what is happening underground or within a basement/foundation and pinpoint the location of the problem with out digging up the whole yard or jack hammering the foundation.

What to look for if you believe your drains are clogged:

1.  Odor coming from the drains

2. Water coming out from your toilet base

3. Water backing up in another fixture when you flush a toilet

4. Drain pipes leaking at the lowest point, possibly your basement

5. Water draining slowly from your sink, bathtub, shower or toilet
